Greetings Chobots!
The most common question that I am asked is how do I make such good videos? I really appreciate it that many of you think that my videos are great and I am going to help you out as much as I can.
My story: I started making videos for Chobots a long time ago. Even though you could hardly call them videos. I was inspired by the amazing video maker "William". I had no idea what to do and I did not look at any tutorials. Let me tell you, my videos were bad, very bad. Although the channel that contained those videos has been deleted a long time ago, to give you a sense of how bad they were, my first video only contained pictures. I took the pictures and put them together to form a story. At the time I used Paint and Windows Movie Maker. Little by little, I made more and more videos and eventually I found out how to record my screen. My videos started to improve.
What you need:
Screen Recorder (I recommend Camtasia Studios)
Video editing program ( For beginners Windows movie maker is fine but for more advanced I recommend Sony Vegas Pro or Adobe After effects)
Optional: Photoshop (For editing pictures which you may use in videos)
The Story: Every video must have a story. If it is a Chobots Music Video that you are making, then you won't really have a story. Make sure to take time to write it down and make changes. I suggest a Brainstorm! Make some ideas and you will have a story in no time.
No rush: Make sure you don't rush a video. Rushing a video will make you make mistakes and will make your video look bad. Take your time to make a plan.
Make a script: One of the problems that I had when I started out making videos is that I just made up the script on the spot. Write out your script carefully as the story is very important.
Video Quality: Nobody wants to watch a terrible quality video. If possible, make a HD video or if you can't at least 480p. Anything below is not worth watching.
Music: If you are new to making videos then you have no idea how important music is to a video. It brings emotion to the video. A great example on how music effects the video can be found by clicking here.
FX: Effects are very important to a video, it makes it stand out and gives it a better look. Windows movie maker has some effects but they are very basic and are great for beginners. For more advances effects, you may need to view some tutorials on YouTube.
Practice: Nobody just started making good videos. The key is practice. Practice, practice and practice. When you are done practicing, practice some more.
Variety: Make different kind of videos. Making only CMV's or something else, will get people bored of the same thing.
Time: Don't make your videos too long, people have stuff to do. For a CMV recommended time is 5 minutes max and for a video with a story, it can be longer. But no longer than 10 minutes.
I hope that these tips will help you get better at making videos and maybe even earn you a camera.
See you soon,
Nightmare
